Faculty of Nursing, Anatomy and Physiology Lab Instructor/facilitator- Fall 2024 & Winter 2025

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking an Anatomy and Physiology Lab Instructor/Facilitator for the Fall Semester 2024 and Winter Semester 2025 as follows:

• FALL SEMESTER (September 1 - December 31, 2024)
• WINTER SEMESTER (January 1 - April 30, 2025)

We are seeking applicants with a strong Anatomy and Physiology knowledge base, particularly those with previous nursing education and/or clinical experience. Teaching will be on-campus and on-line and may include a combination of days, Monday through Friday. The successful applicants are required to be available for scheduled lab sessions in the Fall and Winter terms.

Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Teaching Responsibilities:

• Facilitate Anatomy lab learning sessions via digital cadaver programs and the use of models
• Facilitate case study learning sessions with students in the areas of anatomy and physiology
• Supervise student experimental and tutorial work, which will include teaching short lab introductions on topics in Anatomy and Physiology
• Maintain the lab area - including the set up and take down of lab equipment, maintenance of the equipment and inventory
• Exhibit proficiency in the on-line cadaver program use / troubleshoot student issues
• Assist students and staff to follow safe lab practices as set out by the university
• Participate in weekly meetings with the course coordinator to go over lab content
• Contribute to student evaluation with possible grading of lab reports or quizzes
• Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues
• Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice
• Providing possible lab support to on-line students

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a strong knowledge base in the fields of Human Anatomy and Physiology. Masters degree in the area of Human Anatomy and Physiology (or related field) would be preferred. Teaching experience in the area of Anatomy and Physiology would be preferred. Experience working in a teaching laboratory would be an asset.

• Ability to anticipate challenges and take initiative to correct them
