Position: The Woods General Manager

Employment: Seasonal, Full Time Start Date: Early - Mid November

Reports to: Director of Food and Beverage End Date: End-April

Overview of Position:

  • Manage all outlet operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards
  • Possess a strong ability to stay focused and organized and lead a group of 20 – 25 staff in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of hospitality and service standards.
  • Provide support to all employees at The Woods to achieve guest satisfaction, sales targets and budget targets.
  • Communicate with the Management team though writing in manager logs and also verbally on a daily basis.
  • Participate in weekly Manager Meetings, providing suggestions on how to improve guest experience as well as implementing new procedures.
  • Supervise the day to day running of The Woods restaurant and concession.
  • Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
  • Assist in the design and implementation of wine and drinks menus, goods purchasing and controls
  • Identify customer’s needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities through attracting, recruiting, training and appraising talented personnel
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for internal systems and processes
  • Comply with all Food Safe and Serving it Right regulations
  • Report to management regarding sales results and productivity

Experience and requirements:

  • Min 3+ years’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant in a management role.
  • Excellent record in high volume high end food establishments, banqueting experience a plus but not necessary
  • Experience in managing /working with a large group of staff (20-25 Staff).
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, Squirrel, Moneris)
  • Bartending experience an asset.
  • Must be 19 years old.
  • Have a Serving it Right Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Accredited wine certification from ISG, WSET or CMS a plus
  • Degree/Diploma in Food Service management or related field

Duties and abilities include:

  • Possess a strong ability to stay focused and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail in written and verbal correspondence.
  • Performs daily administrative duties relating to payroll, event management, ordering and requisitions.
  • Train all front of house staff to adhere to standards and procedures of the restaurant.
  • Data entry duties for financial reporting, payroll or menu printing.
  • Provide on the floor support to all employees at The Woods to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in monthly inventory counts.
  • Communicate with the management team to keep team motivated with goals and incentives.
  • Strongly involved in the SWP& SJP training making sure that the staff are adhering to these standards.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work long hours and expected to work overtime in busy periods and holidays.
  • Be on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Able to Lift 50lbs and bend and push repeatedly.
