Position: Groomer Contract Trainer

Reports to: VP Operations Employment: Seasonal Full Time (Winter)

Job Description:

The Groomer Contract Trainer is responsible for overseeing and training personnel in providing the resorts grooming of alpine slopes, Nordic trails, terrain park, half pipe, and accesses. The Groomer Contract Trainer also ensures lift marshaling areas are properly maintained and snow levels around buildings are managed throughout the winter season. This is a full time, seasonal position, with projected employment dates to run from October to May.

Position Requirements/Skills:

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience operating slope grooming equipment
  • Minimum of five years’ experience training personnel in the operation of slope grooming equipment
  • Must have experience with winch, park and half pipe grooming techniques
  • Self-motivated, ability to work well with minimum supervision
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Excellent organization, time management and communication skills
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail
  • Work well within a diverse team environment, be a team player and demonstrate proven leadership skills
  • Have appropriate winter footwear and clothing
  • Flexible availability: including evenings, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, train and schedule the grooming staff tasked with the following activities:
    • The grooming, maintaining, and rebuilding of ski runs and Nordic trails
    • Building and maintaining of the terrain park and half pipe
    • Building and maintaining lift marshaling areas
    • Maintaining the snow levels on accesses and around buildings
  • Work cooperatively as a leader and member of the grooming team to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure log sheets are complete
  • Comply with all department and company policies, and procedures
  • Refuel and perform routine maintenance on machines
  • Perform other tasks, as assigned by management
  • Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
  • Follow all Safe Work Practices and Job Training

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry 20kg at times.
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill duties.
  • Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

Wages: Dependent upon experience $30.00 - $35.00/hour
