Summary: Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Area Maintenance Contracts for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation in all five of the Ministry’s Regions. Our leadership in the Ontario road and highway maintenance industry is based on our commitment to continuous improvement through education, innovation, safety, and training. Miller Maintenance is deemed an essential service by the Provincial Government if pandemic shut downs are required. The Winter Works Plow Operators are responsible for personal adherence to Provincial, Health Canada and Miller Maintenance’s COVID-19 protocols and social distancing practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation of spreader, plow wing, combo unit or tow plow in a safe and efficient manner to carry out the clearing of local roads as per the contract requirements
  • Maintaining accurate documentation including but not limited to fuel reports, safety reports and Hours of Service.
  • To maintain/clean equipment as required and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required.
  • Housekeeping duties within the shop, lunchroom, washroom, common areas and exterior of yard.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including winter equipment, as trained and able, and as required
  • Familiar with performance requirements; understand route map and sand/salt application rate
  • Available twenty four seven and respond to call-ins within thirty minutes (evenings, weekends, nights and holidays)
  • Responsible for personal adherence to Provincial, Health Canada and Miller Maintenance’s COVID-19 protocols and social distancing practices
  • Perform other duties as required and as assigned including field maintenance operation

Requirements:

  • Mechanically inclined
  • AZ or DZ license with a clean drivers abstract and ability to drive manual transmission
  • Previous experience in winter works operations an asset
  • Flexible with work hours and long shifts
  • Appreciation for a high level of efficient and quality work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with solid writing skills
  • Ability to work shift work and be on call on a regular basis
  • Able to work in all types of weather and temperatures
  • Ability to operate winter combination units
