Process Mechanical/Instrumentation and Control/Chemical/Engineering Student

The Environmental Remediation Management portfolio supports the Government of Canada's commitment to a clean and healthy environment for Canadians. Innovative technologies, modern facilities and technical expertise are provided in support of the safe storage and long-term management of radioactive waste. The management and planned reduction of historic stored liquid waste created from years of lab activities are being planned for processing in a prioritized manner reducing the legacy liability and associated risks to the site and the environment. Environmental remediation processes apply systematic risk assessments, based on sound science and technical solutions that help ensure all activities are protective of the environment and human health. Activities focus on addressing and managing health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) risks. The scope includes the implementation, maintenance, and reporting of the execution of the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) for ERM. ERM will assess and report performance and progress against the Performance Measurement Baseline using the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Description (compliant with ANSI/EIA-748 Revision C).

What you will be doing:

• Support the development of project work plans and different project documentation.
• Support the development of Field schedules for different projects.
• Review the current Project Plan and propose opportunities for project optimization based on system operation and project recommendations.
• Develop Job Hazard Analysis for project activities as part of the Integrated Work Control Program.
• Support the Project Manager and Project lead in the development and follow up of different work packages for field execution.
• Support the project manager in project reporting

What we are looking for:

Applicants should be a Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Controls and Instrumentation Technology student possessing the following traits:
• Ability to read and understand engineering documents (Process Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Drawings).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively communicate with other technical departments at CNL.
• Ability to stay self-motivated and achieve the established goals and objectives.
• Possess a working-level knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word Software applications.

Are you in this field/program?

Process Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Instrument and Control Engineer in their second, third or fourth year of study.

Security clearance eligibility required:

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security".
