Full Job Description

Summary: Drake International has openings for Full time DZ Snowplow operators for the winter season at various locations in Beardmore, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Nickle Lake, Britt, Nestor Falls and Rock Lake. The winter season runs yearly from October to April, weather dependent.

Our client is looking for drivers who are hardworking, dependable, punctual and who take their job seriously.

What we offer:

  • Guaranteed minimum of 40hrs per week
  • Full paid training
  • Accommodation, meal allowance, internet, TV are provided
  • Start and End of Season travel expenses paid
  • $1,000 end of season bonus
  • $22 -25 hourly rate, depending on work location.

Responsibilities:

As a Snowplow operator, you’ll be responsible for removal of snow from roads. some regional highway driving work. Schedule flexibility is required.

  • Perform daily commercial vehicle inspections with the completion of necessary safety checks and monitoring the vehicle for any major/minor defects and report it to safety.
  • Comply with hours-of-service regulations as per ministry of transportation.
  • Operates snowplow and salt truck to remove ice and snow from roads and assigned areas
  • Ensure that roads under responsibility of this position are adequately and safely plowed when required.
  • Shovel snow, grounds maintenance and other duties as assigned related to facilities and roads maintenance.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance/repair tasks such as changing vehicle fluids, fueling, greasing, painting, etc.
  • Reports all incidents involving equipment’s functioning to Supervisor(s)


Requirements:

  • DZ license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must be available 24/7 (On Call)
  • Available to respond to call -ins within the time frame set out by the client
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays) during winter storms
  • Ability to communicate efficiently (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Team player; able to get along with a diverse group of people
  • Hardworking, reliable, and punctual
