Position Overview

We have an incredibly sophisticated and powerful software platform; it uses machine learning deployed at scale in some of the largest and most important organizations in the world.

As a Search and Discovery Development Intern you will work as part of team to build, test and run the latest technology for search engine and API technologies in a way that takes our products to the next level!

What you will do

• Learn and support high performance search engine and API development
• Stay on top of changes to the technologies we use or should use, including Elasticsearch, Dropwizard API framework and other parts of the J2EE
• Contribute to and maintain a clean public REST API
• Find ways to automate testing of your code
• Support the management of the search cluster and the data stored in it (ie: upgrades, configuration, archiving, etc)

Your range of skills include a combination of the following:

• Working towards a degree in data science, computer science or engineering
• Experience working with Java or JVM-related technologies
• Demonstrated desire to learning about Search Engines, Big Data, Machine Learning or related fields
• Experience in Linux system administration, RHEL/CentOS and Ubuntu
• Familiarity with Python and shell (Bash) scripting
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMWare ESX, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) and emerging cloud computing trends
