The Datalinx Core Product Management team has a 5% growth target on a $143M business and we need a staff member to analyze billing data, prepare business cases, assist in regulatory filings and responses and to create and manage sales campaigns to achieve this target of 5%.

TMX Group is an integrated, multi-asset class exchange group. TMX Group's key subsidiaries operate cash and derivative markets and clearinghouses for multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income and energy. We also provide clearing facilities, data products and other services to the international financial community. TMX Markets consist of the Derivatives and Equities Trading businesses of the TMX Group.

The Student Intern, Product Management will work on the analysis to help develop the business case for upcoming revenue-generating/development projects towards the success of new and updated data products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the business case by providing valuable input and financial modeling through Google Sheets on the current and proposed revenue impact relating to the underlying market, product, consumer, business and operational trends

  • Drive data-driven market analysis, product strategy and definition, business cases and competitive analysis associated with data products

  • Develop an on-going understanding of the market with a curiosity to seek new and better data products and advocate for a growing product

  • Demonstrate ability to connect in-depth data analysis to key metrics and patterns to support overall product strategy

  • Work closely with cross functional teams to translate organizational strategy, product vision, business/market requirements into product requirements

  • Assist in the client notification on any changes implemented

  • Communicate any product change milestones to cross functional teams and clients to ensure an understanding of new capabilities and its market positioning

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategies and guide execution

  • Support the creation of documentation, both client- and stakeholder-facing, by collaborating with marketing, engineering and business-operations teams

  • Other key initiatives and ad-hoc projects to help execution


  • Third or fourth year student working towards a Bachelor or Commerce in Business Management or Finance or any other similar quantitative discipline

  • Strong interest and knowledge in equity markets

  • Advanced MS Excel or Google Sheets knowledge, with Tableau skills would be an asset

  • Knowledge of Salesforce report building capabilities would be an asset

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with international financial institutional clients on a business and high level technical basis

  • Able to embrace and adapt quickly to changes in priorities and situations.

  • Able to evaluate, analyze and summarize data and facts, establish logical connections and form sound decisions.

  • Ability to show initiative while remaining consistent to the overall project goal

  • Organization skills

  • Canadian Securities course (nice to have)
