Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.What you will doThe Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking individuals to create an inventory for existing and future casual snowfighter opportunities in the Highway Maintenance crews within the Moncton District during winter operations. The Moncton District includes divisions in Petitcodiac, Hillsborough, Indian Mountain/Salisbury, Cap-Pelé, Sackville/Port Elgin, Shediac, Moncton, Harcourt/Acadieville, Kouchibouguac, Rexton, Bouctouche/St-Marie, Cocagne.Reporting to the Highway Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:performing skilled duties in the construction and maintenance of highways. managing safe and efficient operation of a variety of heavy equipment, including a one-person plow during winter operations as requested, per the procedures set by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. performing normal maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment, preparing and maintaining work records on the operation of the assigned equipment. ensuring roads are safe for public use through plowing and placing sand and salt on roads.Work environment:Office location: Various locations (Petitcodiac, Hillsborough, Indian Mountain/Salisbury, Cap-Pelé, Sackville/Port Elgin, Shediac, Moncton, Harcourt/Acadieville, Kouchibouguac, Rexton, Bouctouche/St-Marie, Cocagne).Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hoursMay work in adverse road and weather conditionsWe promote a scent-reduced environmentWho you areKey behavioural competencies:Effective Interactive CommunicationResults OrientationTeamwork and CooperationEssential Qualifications:Completion of grade ten (10)Minimum of three (3) years experience in the operation of heavy construction equipmentValid Class 3 driver's license with endorsement for air brakes as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.Depending on the location applied for, written and spoken competence in English and/or French will be required.
