OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE WORKER - SEASONAL
One (1) Temporary, Seasonal Full-time Position

The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban/rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting for one (1) temporary, seasonal full-time position of Outdoor Maintenance Worker.
The position will provide winter maintenance activities at various municipal facilities and perform labour and maintenance duties. This position is also responsible for winter sidewalk clearing operations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities of the position are:
- Perform winter roadway and sidewalk clearing operations.
- Assist work crews with construction / maintenance tasks if required.
- Operate heavy trucks, industrial tractors commercial turf equipment and other equipment and apparatus, including plow trucks and winter sidewalk clearing equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records.
- Ensure regular safety inspection of all applicable equipment.
- Ensure departmental equipment is kept in good working order through regular inspection and maintenance programs.
- Carry out manual labour including but not limited to, cold patching, tree and brush removal, sign installations, requiring articulate physical dexterity for construction and maintenance efforts of the department.
- Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of Secondary School Diploma.
- Minimum two (2) to five (5) years’ related experience and a demonstrated ability to successfully train in new duties.
- A satisfactory driving record with a valid Ontario Class AR license is required; AZ license preferred.
- Ability to carry out manual labour requiring physical dexterity for construction and maintenance efforts of the department in all weather conditions.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards related to sidewalk snow removal.
- Good communication skills.
- Proficient with the use of computers including email, internet, work order and timekeeping software an asset.
- Ability to work hours beyond the normal work week, including evenings and weekends and ability to work on a rotational basis or be on call.
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate(s) must submit a Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Township
RATE OF PAY
Compensation for this position is $30.16 per hour (2026 rate), plus statutory holidays, standby pay and vacation pay as per the Collective Agreement.
HOURS OF WORK
From mid-November 2026 to mid-April 2027, this seasonal position will work 40 hours per week; however, extended hours or additional hours on a call-in basis are required in inclement weather/road conditions. In addition, this position will be required to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays or on a rotational basis and be on call in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The position will primarily work 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm Monday to Friday with the requirement for availability of on call on the weekends. Overtime is mandatory to address significant weather or infrastructure issues.
