Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: LEIS 1167: Introduction to Recreation Management Professions. The course will be offered in the winter term, from January 1st, 2027- April 30th, 2027. NOTE: This is an in-person course and involves lecture and discussion format.

The course will expose students to management functions within the recreation sector, providing a foundation for identifying skills and options for a career in recreation management. The course will provide networking opportunities to meet current professionals and recent alumni involved in various occupations related to the recreation management profession.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. The course will be taught using Brightspace (LMS- learning management system) and in-person on the Halifax Campus for the winter term . In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparation in advance of the term. The part-time academic may consider offering one to two office hours per week outside of class time.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Graduate degree in Kinesiology, Health Promotion or Recreation and Leisure Studies with demonstrated teaching ability preferred

Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement
