Work Location: Harriston Garage; the County of Wellington is an employer that provides service onsite.Vacancies: 3Application Deadline: 09/11/2026 BASIC FUNCTION The Snow Plow Driver is a seasonal position and the function is to augment the number of full time County Operators, to enable the County to adequately staff its Winter Control Operation. The Snow Plow Driver must possess the appropriate skill level to be able to be fully integrated into the winter control shift roster. This position works rotating shifts 24/7, including an on-call rotation requirement. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Operate a snow plow and a front end loader on rotating winter shifts. Report equipment breakdowns and poor performance to the Roads Supervisor. Patrol roads and record data on road conditions and report back to the Roads Supervisor. Ensure that all work performed is carried out with good workmanship and that the desired outcomes are achieved. Provide labourer and operator functions pertaining to road maintenance activities. Investigate public concerns regarding the maintenance of the County road system as advised and report the problem to the Roads Supervisor (i.e. sanding, salting, grading, patching). Provide the public with prompt, courteous service to road maintenance problems as directed by the Roads Supervisor. Ensure road signs are replaced/repaired as required. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma. Minimum two years of experience or equivalent in road maintenance or construction, preferably in a municipal setting. Working knowledge of the operation of a variety of light trucks, six tonne snowplows, and agricultural and construction equipment. Working knowledge of all Occupational Health and Safety and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System regulations. Valid Standard First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain upon hire. A valid driver’s licence Class D with a Z endorsement and a satisfactory driver’s abstract. Participation in the Roads On-call Rotation required; must be able to report to the job site within approximately 30 minutes of the callout. Pay Range: $32.85 - $38.42 (2026 Non-Union Compensation Grid)Benefits: Extended Health Care, Emergency Travel Assistance, Dental Care; mandatory enrolment, premiums 100% covered.Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.Medical Responsibility Time: Prorated and accrues at 1 day/month.Vacation: Accrues to start at three weeks/annum; increases based on length of service.Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
