Position Summary As a valuable member of the Operations team, the Ice Rink Operator will deliver championship service throughout the organization and be directly involved in the daily operations of the facility. This role pays an hourly rate of $22.20 - $31.00 CAD (per CBA). Benefits As Per The Union Agreement. This position will remain open until December 31, 2026. Responsibilities Operate ice resurfacer to maintain a professional level of ice quality, including daily assigned ice maintenance tasking Assist with directing all part-time staff during shifts, including the delegation of daily duties and event setups Understand and maintain records and logbook entries related to the refrigeration plant and other life safety equipment Responsible for opening and closing the facility—including arming, disarming, and security checks Use hand and power tools to complete tasks Basic knowledge of building repairs/maintenance such as plumbing, drywall, picture installs, bulb changes, etc… Comprehend and communicate clear instructions for all event and non-event setups Lead small crews setting up for events using folding chairs, staging, drapery, and stacking chairs and tables of various shapes and sizes Perform daily cleaning requirements and projects as assigned Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and facility users. Handle multiple tasks at one time and meet strict deadlines Adhere to all Oak View Group service standards and policies, including health & safety Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or the Assistant Operations Manager Qualifications 2+ years of experience operating an ice resurfacer and use of all ice equipment & tools Any post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, Arena refrigeration systems, and BAS controls Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word TSSA Class B refrigeration certificate is desired C.I.T Certification through the ORFA is an asset Fork lift certification is an asset First Aid & WHMIS trained Ability to climb stairs and lift heavy objects unaided Must be able to communicate safe and proper cleaning procedures to employees Must express a willingness to learn and adapt to a changing work environment Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including between the hours of 6am - 3am, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Requirements
Requires at least two years of ice resurfacer and ice equipment experience, knowledge of arena refrigeration, HVAC, and building automation systems, and basic Microsoft Office proficiency. Candidates should be able to lift heavy objects, climb stairs, communicate safe cleaning procedures, and work a flexible schedule; refrigeration, ORFA, forklift, First Aid, and WHMIS credentials are desired or assets.
