Big White is now accepting applications for the 2021/2022 winter season for Ski Patrol alternating with Patrol Dispatch. This unique rotating role is a cumulative 40hr/week full-time position. To accommodate workplace injuries, this post often transitions to full-time on-hill patrol. Applicants must be versatile, have the ability to perform a wide range of duties, and work with our staff and guests in a friendly and professional manner.

Duties and responsibilities include:
Ski Patrol Duties

  • First Aid – on-snow guest injuries and WorkSafeBC designated worker injuries
  • Incident investigation
  • Risk management
  • Run maintenance
  • Public relations
  • Slope watch
  • Opening and closing runs
  • Snowmobile operations
  • Search and rescue
  • Lift evacuations
  • Assisting with avalanche control and rescue
Dispatch Duties
  • Answering telephones and radios, and dealing with walk-in patients
  • Sending patrollers and equipment to incidents
  • Data entry and auditing of documentation
  • Public and interdepartmental relations
Required qualifications/skills:
  • Minimum First Aid requirement – must have one of the following, no exceptions or exemptions:
    • Current BC OFA 3
    • BC PCP or EMR (license)
    • Australian Ski Patrol Association Certification
    • New Zealand Patrol Certificate
  • Ability to accurately type 40 wpm
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of Big White Ski Resort trails and terrain
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Internet Explorer
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
  • AST1, CAA1 and WorkSafeBC Blasting Ticket all considered assets

Salary:
Training and starting wage - $17.20/hr
