Job details

Summary Supporting participants with disabilities in the ski and snowboard lessons. Location Address 1 Sunshine Rd Banff, Alberta T1L 1J5 When Opportunity Type Ongoing - Start Anytime Schedule Flexible About This Opportunity Rocky Mountain Adaptive is looking for volunteers to support people with disabilities as they enjoy mountain sport and recreation. Volunteers will assist our instructors and participants up at Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, Norquay, and Nakiska. There is no time commitment, you can volunteer with as much or as little as you wish. Volunteers choose their schedule and their shifts on our volunteer sign-up system. All training is provided to volunteers on full-day sessions up at Sunshine Village or during an informational session. Ride along with lessons and support our participants with a wide variety of tasks. This can include helping with chairlift loads and unloads, assisting a participant if they fall down, blocking traffic, getting equipment on, and guiding athletes with visual impairments. Our volunteers are not instructors, they do not teach our participants about skiing. They simply support our instructors during lessons or assist participants who are strong enough skiers/riders to not need a lesson. The expectation is that volunteers can ski blue runs comfortably and can provide their own equipment. All day tickets are provided complimentary for volunteers to access resorts on days of volunteering. All of our volunteers are required to sign up on Better Impact, our online volunteer sign-up system.
